MEDIA ADVISORY: DC Walk for Justice 5K at Nats Park on Oct. 22

WHAT: The DC Bar Foundation’s annual DC Walk for Justice 5K unites the community to support civil legal services for DC residents facing urgent challenges.


The fun, family-friendly, and educational event will feature:

  • DC Superior Court Chief Judge Milton C. Lee Jr., striking a huge gavel to start the race.

  • Scenic 5K route views of Nationals Park and the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail

  • Signs about the pressing civil legal needs facing District residents. 

  • A finish line party at Nationals Park with music, food, drinks, and face painting

  • Racing President Teddy Roosevelt

  • A legal and community services fair featuring DC Bar Foundation grantees


WHO: Judges and public officials; Teams from dozens of local law firms, legal services providers, law schools; Community members and families. To date, more than 50 law firms have sponsored the event.


WHEN: Thursday, Oct. 22, 2026. Gates open at 3:00 PM; Walk begins at 4:30 PM.


WHERE: Nationals Park (1500 S. Capitol Street, SE, Washington, DC 20001)


WHY: The DC Walk for Justice 5K aims to raise $500,000 to serve District residents facing domestic violence, housing instability, fraud, barriers to healthcare, and more.  All proceeds benefit the DC Bar Foundation, which funds and strengthens legal services for DC residents who could otherwise not afford a lawyer.
