COVID-19 Response Grants: Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs

Our COVID-19 response grants are helping DC’s legal aid organizations navigate hardships incurred from COVID-19 so they can provide life-saving legal support to our DC neighbors in need. This month, we feature Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs. Read on to learn about the work they are doing to support their clients through this crisis, and how our funding helps.

Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs partners with community members and organizations on scores of cases to combat discrimination based on race, gender, disability, family size, history of criminal conviction, and more. Their stream of civil rights victories over the last 50 years proves their commitment to creating a future in which every person has an equal opportunity to live up to their full potential.

Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs is using our funds to continue providing legal assistance for workers of color with low-wages who are facing unemployment, wage theft, workers safety issues, and other COVID-19 related complications.
