Walk With Intention

ree

The 2025 Walk for Justice 5K is now behind us, but the joy and excitement that we collectively experienced that day remain with me. The Walk is becoming one of my favorite events of the year because we get to bring together our local community, colleagues, and family for a purpose that is far bigger than all of us.

A similar sentiment was shared in feedback the DCBF staff received the day after the event:

“Thank you for hosting such a meaningful and beautifully paced Walk for Justice. The event was a testament to the Foundation’s enduring legacy—where advocacy and community met with grace. Thank you again for your leadership and for creating a space where justice was not only spoken but walked with intention.”  –Thomasina A. Yuille, retired Navy Chaplain and Ward 8 resident

Together, we made an incredible impact. Here are a few highlights from the second annual Walk for Justice 5K:

  • Raised more money. This year, the Walk raised $340,556, more than double what was raised in 2024 ($163,488), due to the support of our 53 corporate and individual sponsors.

  • Increased the number of walkers. There were 878 registered walkers compared to 550 last year.

  • Incorporated new features. This year, we introduced the Grantee Partner Village, where 19 legal services providers distributed information about how their organizations help DC residents.

These highlights are a testament to the strength of our community, and I offer my deepest thanks and gratitude to everyone who supported the DC Bar Foundation and the 2025 Walk for Justice 5K. You can watch this year’s video and look at all the pictures that captured some of the Walk’s best moments. Save the date for the 2026 Walk for Justice on October 22. I look forward to seeing you at Nationals Park!

Sincerely,

Kirra L. Jarratt
