The DC Bar Foundation is the proud administrator of the Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP), which provides up to $12,000 a year in interest-free, forgivable loans to help DC’s legal aid attorneys pay down their educational debt.
Attorneys and organizations are invited to join us on February 24 for our LRAP information sessions.
LRAP Session #1 - Student Loan Updates for Public Interest Attorneys
12:00 pm to 1:15 pm (75 minutes)
This session provides an overview of the District of Columbia Bar Foundation’s Loan Repayment Assistance Programs (LRAPs) eligibility requirements, award amounts, and enrollment logistics.
Additionally, attorney and student loan expert Heather Jarvis will address the proposed final Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) regulation, changes to repayment plans under the OBBB Act, and what to expect next under the SAVE plan litigation and associated forbearance including the PSLF Buyback.
Join us to learn more about where to begin, actions to consider, and how to stay informed. Limited Q&A will be offered. Although personalized advice will not be available, this session will prepare you to more effectively evaluate your own circumstances and options for action.

LRAP Session #2 - Student Loan Updates for Public Interest Organization Leadership
1:30 pm to 2:30 pm (60 minutes)
Geared towards public interest employers and leadership, this session will review the organization's role in reporting eligibility for the District of Columbia Bar Foundation’s Loan Repayment Assistance Programs (LRAPs) and how attorney participants benefit.
Join us for ideas you can use to support your ability to recruit and retain dedicated staff despite the burden of student loan debt.
Additionally, Heather Jarvis will brief you on the proposed final Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) regulations, their implications for employers, and what to expect next. Further, learn how the OBBB Act impacts federal student loan borrowing limits and repayment plans.
