Donor Profile: Kim LeBlanc Ross

We are fortunate at the DC Bar Foundation to have loyal donors and volunteers who make our mission possible through their generosity. This month we spoke with Kim LeBlanc Ross, Foundation volunteer, and loyal donor.

Kim is a member of the Foundation's Young Lawyers Network Leadership Council, serves as a volunteer solicitor for our annual Call to Action campaign, and sits on the Scoutt Prize Selection Committee. Kim shares what supporting the DC Bar Foundation means to her below:

Why do you give to the DC Bar Foundation?

Giving to the Foundation helps ensure equal access to justice for the DC community. DCBF plays an integral role in helping meet the community's legal service needs, and every contribution helps.

You currently serve as a member of DCBF's Young Lawyers Network Leadership Council, our Scoutt Prize Selection Committee, and a Volunteer Solicitor for the Call to Action campaign. How has being involved with the Foundation impacted you?

Serving in various roles with DCBF allows me to contribute to the Foundation's mission in various ways.  My work with the Foundation allows me to stay on the front lines of the city's ever-changing needs, allows me to work with the Foundation's amazing grantee partners, and allows me to work with the Foundation's exceptional Board members and volunteers to help achieve DCBF's objectives.

How does the Foundation's work align with your own beliefs and values?

Giving back to the community is one of the core values instilled in me, by my parents, from a young age, and the Foundation allows my work to reach more people than I could as an individual.  Both my work with a nonprofit on a national level and my work with the Foundation on a local level are critically important and consistent with my core beliefs and values.

What current DC Bar Foundation efforts most inspire your involvement - both as a member of the YLN LC and as a loyal donor?

DCBF has so many amazing initiatives it's impossible for me to narrow it down to just one.  The Foundation does an excellent job of adapting its programs to meet the community's needs. The entire panoply of work by the Foundation inspires me to continue donating my time and resources to support DCBF's mission.

What would you say to other young lawyers who might be interested in supporting the Foundation?

As lawyers, we all juggle competing demands but giving back to the community is always a worthwhile endeavor.  Whether it be your time, a financial contribution, or both, the Foundation is a great way to support the local community, and I encourage every lawyer to get involved.
