December 2023 News of Note

CIR Updates:

Our partner NPC Research just released a new report summarizing community member feedback about the Coordinated Intake and Referral system. With the help of our community partners, we conducted focus groups with clients of legal and social services organizations. As with our previous CIR reports, the information we collected will be used to inform the design and development of a user-centered CIR system.

Support our Call to Action Campaign

The DC Bar Foundation’s annual Call to Action campaign is now underway. So far, 22 firms and corporations have generously committed $170,650, or 32% of our $533,000 goal. You can see a complete list of Call to Action donors on our website.

Dollars raised through Call to Action support training programs for legal aid lawyers, provide financial support to those same attorneys through our Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP), and bolster the Foundation’s operating grants, which provide critical unrestricted funding to legal aid organizations in DC. These grants help some of our grantees keep the lights on to continue offering life-saving services to residents in need.

We thank those who have given to Call to Action consecutively over the years, particularly those who have increased their gift amounts. This year's donor recognition tiers are based on the gift amount divided by the number of attorneys in the firm's DC office, creating a more equitable recognition system for firms of all sizes. Your continued support expands the Foundation’s reach in the civil legal aid community. It helps make it possible for us to transform DC’s civil legal aid network so that all District residents have a fair and equal legal experience.
