The Foundation The DC Bar Foundation (DCBF), a 501(c)(3) organization established in 1977, funds, supports, and improves legal representation of people living in poverty and in vulnerable situations, or who are otherwise under served in the District of Columbia. We are committed to the vision that residents of the District have equal access to justice, regardless of income. We provide grants, training, and technical assistance to DC legal aid organizations and award loans to DC poverty lawyers to help with their educational debt. As a part of our investment in justice, DCBF is implementing a robust strategic plan that will include (1) funding with intention, (2) engaging with our stakeholders, (3) identify unmet needs, (4) demonstrate impact, and (5) infuse with racial justice and equity.
The Position
DCBF is seeking an Operations Manager to ensure efficient operations and administrative functions at the DC Bar Foundation.
The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Oversee all office and internal functions including, but not limited to, business registration needs, accounts receivable and accounts payable, incoming mail, and main line telephone calls
Operate as the primary administrator and point of contact for IOLTA database management and bank approval process
Manage all aspects of certain committee meetings such as scheduling, agendas, reminders, materials, recording of minutes, and follow up items
Serve as the assistant to the CEO by managing calendar appointments, making reservations, and providing other assistance as requested
Manage Information Technology needs for the office
Approve billing, process invoices, allocate expenses, and manage the SmarTrip benefit program
Serve as the liaison for building and security matters, as well as external suppliers and service providers
Manage interns and temporary employees
Maintain electronic files and update Salesforce database
Work alongside other Foundation departments to ensure smooth operations
Manage all aspects of BoardEffect, the board portal used by the Foundation, ensuring content is current and consistent across committees
Lead administration of Asana, the Foundation’s project management software, maintaining ownership of the platform, and providing support to staff as needed
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Five years’ experience managing operations in a professional environment
Two years’ experience working for a nonprofit organization
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to coordinate activities of all resources throughout each phase of the project cycle
Strong knowledge of administrative practices, with excellent formatting skills
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy required to independently produce high-quality deliverables
Strong computer skills, with the ability to quickly master new technologies
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to plan, coordinate, and manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and competing priorities
Ability to understand when issues require escalation
Sound professional judgement and demonstrated professional maturity
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Skilled use of standard office equipment including computers, scanners, printers, copiers, and phones
The ideal candidate will also have experience using Asana and Salesforce.
