If you are a poverty lawyer working for an eligible non-profit in the District of Columbia, providing civil legal services to District residents, you may qualify for an interest-free, forgivable loan to help repay your educational debt through the Loan Repayment Assistance Program. Certain limitations apply. In general, you must:
- Work as a lawyer for an LRAP-eligible employer.
- Be current on your educational debts.
- Be a member in good-standing of the DC Bar, or fit within an exception listed in the guidelines.
All the information you need is on this website -- review the Program Guidelines carefully, download and submit a timely application (including the School Loan Information Form) and make sure that your lenders and employer submit the required information.
THE LRAP12 Application period is now CLOSED. Thank you to all applicants for their timely submissions!
An eligible employer list will be available soon. If your organization is not on the list, they must apply for inclusion by October 17, 2011. More information is in the Program Guidelines .
